Manager, Product Design, Digital Experience Engineering

Red Hat, Inc., Remote, 2020 - present

I head up the globally distributed Digital Product Design team that supports Red Hat’s customer support functions. Since taking this role I have:

• Established scalable team processes with a focus on empowerment, enablement, and psychological safety across disciplines

• Co-founded Red Hat’s Design Program Office, unifying internal design organizations into a collaborative governance model

• Worked with product management, engineering, and design thought-leaders across to spread adoption of IBM’s Enterprise Design Thinking methodology

Associate Manager, CX Design, Middleware Design Engineering

Red Hat, Inc., Remote, 2019 - 2020

I took over a small full-stack team with a design technologist, front-end dev, and back-end engineer with an aim to align the UX and tech stack across sixty project websites. Building camaraderie between designers and engineers led to a scalable process that connected several dozen uniquely branded websites.

• Developed a design system focused on empowering software engineers to manage content and marketing channels within their native skillset

• Simplified engineering processes and eliminated $500k in annual spend by migrating 60 community project websites to GitHub Pages

Senior UX Designer, Middleware Community

Red Hat, Inc., Remote, 2017 - 2019

I kicked off a project to renovate more than a dozen web properties supporting Red Hat’s open-source community projects. My work aimed to standardize the underlying user experience and user analytics across multiple properties to better enable user migration from community to enterprise.

• Negotiated an acceptable design and engineering approach across twelve disparate and globally distributed teams

• Fostered stronger connections between engineering teams and their audiences through analytics data exchanges and user interviews

Experience Designer, Red Hat Developer Experience

Red Hat, Inc., Remote, 2015 - 2017

I joined Red Hat to provide brand, UX, and environmental design support for DevNation, an in-person event for open-source software developers.

• Lead the design of a new branding system including defining content voice, musical style, visual tone, and environmental engagement

• Collaborated on development of keynote presentations and production of video recordings

Principal Designer

Revels + Brock., Austin, TX, 2012 - 2015

I co-founded Revels + Brock to provide marketing support for local non-profit, political projects.

• Developed campaign branding and PR collateral for an Austin City Council candidate race that spanned print, digital, and A/V media

• Increased donations and volunteerism for the Shoal Creek Conservancy’s watershed cleanup campaign through compelling visual story-telling

Dynamic Reprographics, Inc., Austin, TX, 2010 - 2012

I managed Dynamic’s e-commerce, PR content, and creative design functions.

• Increased audience reach by enforcing consistent brand messaging across digital and social media work streams

• Developed e-commerce procedures and managed integration of digital workflows with existing product delivery processes
